Mayor Andy Tuzinski
The Mayor, elected at large to a four-year term, is primarily responsible for the public safety of the community with emphasis on law enforcement and the day-to-day oversight and administration of the police department. The Mayor also reviews each ordinance and resolution of a legislative nature enacted by Borough Council, and can sign it, veto it, or permit it to become law without signature. The Mayor has the authority to break a tie vote of Borough Council. The Mayor is authorized to perform wedding ceremonies and administer oaths. Another function of the office is to serve as spokesman for the community and to represent the Borough at various civic and social activities.
Mayor Andy Tuzinski was elected to Borough Council in 2000 and served two terms. Andy served as President of Borough Council from 2000 to 2005. In 2013 he was elected Mayor of Forty Fort. Andy graduated from Wyoming Valley West High School in 1985 and attended Luzerne County Community College and King’s College. Andy served with the US Navy and Navy Reseve as a Hospital Corpsman and is a veteran of Desert Storm. In 2008 Andy retired from the Pennsylvania Army National Guard as a Medical Sergeant after a combined 20 years of proud service to his country and his state.
In addition to serving as Mayor, Andy serves as Forty Fort’s Emergency Management Director, an unpaid position he has held since being appointed in 1999 by then-Governor Tom Ridge. A life member of the Forty Fort Fire Company, Andy has served the community as a volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician since 1986. In addition to his duties as Mayor, Andy serves on the Board of Trustees of both the Forty Fort Cemetery Association and the Forty Fort Meeting House Preservation Society. Andy is active with Families for Forty Fort Park and is a Coach for the Forty Fort Pioneers Soccer Club.
Andy and his wife Suzie are the proud parents of three children, Allie, Missi and Jack. Andy is employed by RPM International as a Territory Manager responsible for Eastern Pennsylvania, Upstate New York and Southern New Jersey sales for their subsidiary DAP Products.
